What If We Put Aside Our Unspoken Fears?

This piece turned out to be wonderfully liberating.  You know the Mind Monkeys that swing around from branch to branch in our heads saying things like "it's not good enough" and "what if they don't like it?" Well, the minute I transferred those negative self-talkin' Mind Monkeys from my head to the painted gray area at the bottom, I suddenly felt freed up and a dozen good ideas came to me... NICE!  Funny how a simple little act can have such a powerful effect.

This piece is 36" x 49" and constructed primarily with crushed velvet and chenille upholstery remnants and Timtex disks, making for an interesting combination of fabric weights and textures.

Lab Note:  The crushed velvet and chenille had backings that kept them from sticking together like cottons.  Made for a slippery assembly.

Lab Tip:  Break out the pins!
